Black pepper

Description

Black pepper is a flowering vine in the family Piperaceace, cultivated for its fruit which is usually dried and used as spice and seasoning, known as a peppercorn. When fresh and fully mature, it is approximately 5 millimetres (0.20 in) in diameter and dark red, and contains a single seed like all drupes.

Black pepper is native to south India and is extensively cultivated there and elsewhere in tropical regions. Currently, Viet Nam is the world’s largest producer and exporter of pepper.

Use: Black pepper is the world’s most traded spice and is one of the most common spices added to cuisines around the world.
